Here I am, staring at the familiar blank page of a fresh blog post -- although I can't help but feel unfamiliar with this old blog of mine. The girl who wrote the last post is not the same girl who is typing today. Don't get me wrong -- I love both girls, and I love the beauty that accompanies growth, development, and change -- but time has definitely shaped a new me.
Today I sit here, recovering from knee surgery with a warm pup snuggled up on my right side, soaking up the last true recovery day before working from home tomorrow. How different my world has become since July 2014 -- new job, new puppy, and a new sense of clarity. This clarity has been returning to me over the last few months and when a dear friend of mine shared some words of wisdom with me shortly after we entered 2016, I have felt very clear about my current place:
"Maybe the journey
isn't so much about
becoming anything,
Maybe it's about
unbecoming
everything that isn't really you,
so you can be who
you were meant to
be in the first place"
It has been through this recovery downtime that the pang of missing writing became its strongest. My love affair with verbs brings the ironic challenge of actually sitting down and writing about these verb adventures. But the more I let the contrived pieces of blogging fall away, the more I discover the purest form of "me" and my writing.
I may be a foul weather blogger, meaning it is much easier for me to write when the weather is less than ideal -- but my love of writing has not been extinguished.
This is my blog, my thoughts, my corner of the internet. This won't be a place to find a new recipe or craft, it won't be something I make money from or promote products for. Thoughts might be short, posts might be image heavy but what I want to revive about this blog is pure writing.
