Recently, I have had the opportunity to experience some unique activities. How often do you have the chance to take an aerial hoop class on a Friday and a participate in a Guinness Book of World Records attempt on a Saturday? Life seems to never stop presenting me with activities that grab my attention.

I fell in love with aerial arts last year, when I took a flying trapeze class after I found an awesome deal on Groupon (I know go figure...). There are certain places that you just feel at home, the minute that you walk in...and Emerald City Trapeze seriously is one of those places for me. Something about the atmosphere, grabs me and stirs my soul (maybe that's my inner child, circus performer wanna-be?).

Lo and behold -- another deal appeared for six aerial arts classes (this time it was a Living Social deal.) Just my luck! So last Friday, I finally made it into the aerial dome and I truly could not have been more excited. Five of us made our way into the aerial arts center to stretch and warm up, as Florence and the Machine serenaded us. The mood was calm, although my anticipation was rising, as I couldn't wait to grab hold of the aerial hoop. We learned some basic moves on the silk and then transferred our knowledge to the hoop. The culmination of the evening was entering the hoop, executing two styles of mermaid poses, and gracefully exiting the hoop. All bruises and blisters aside, I loved every minute of my two hour class and I cannot wait to learn more!

Although my body was sore upon waking Saturday morning, nothing was going to slow me down as there was snow in the forecast for Seattle Center! The idea behind "Snow Day" is, why not raise money for a good cause by doing something fun, and possibly record breaking? The world record attempt for holding the largest snow ball fight doubled as a fundraiser for the Boys and Girls Clubs of King County. What better way is there to raise money for kids than to remember what it felt like to be a kid during a coveted snow day?!

The day was full of fun, as it was quite a sight to see Seattle Center blanketed in white. As night fell, we began to grab snow and start forming our ammo. The countdown began, and one solid minute of snow-ball fighting ensued! I will be completely honest in saying that it was truly indescribable, so I invite you to see it for yourself HERE!

The ending stats are as follows:
"$50,000+ RAISED for the Boys and Girls Clubs of King County
5,834 SNOWBALL fighters (NEW World Record)
90 SECONDS to break the world record
81 TONS of snow harvested from the Cascade Mountains
11 BARS were crawled to and from by thirsty warriors
1 RECORD in a snowless city"

What has GRABBED your attention lately?!
